The 2026 American Music Awards are locking in one of the more eclectic performer lineups in recent memory. The 52nd edition of the show airs live on Memorial Day, Monday May 25, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on CBS and Paramount+, hosted by Queen Latifah at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The confirmed performer roster spans a wide range of sounds and eras. Grammy nominees Karol G, KATSEYE, sombr, Teddy Swims, and Teyana Taylor are all set to take the stage. Karol G will also receive the International Artist Award of Excellence. BTS is confirmed for a special appearance, riding the momentum of "Swim," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Taylor Swift leads all nominees with eight nods, followed by Morgan Wallen, Olivia Dean, and Sabrina Carpenter with seven each.
On the heritage side, Billy Idol performs and accepts a Lifetime Achievement Award. New Kids on the Block and Hootie & the Blowfish are also on the bill, with Darius Rucker separately receiving the Veterans Voice Award Presented by USAA's Honor Through Action. The Pussycat Dolls and Busta Rhymes are bringing back their 2005 collab "Don't Cha," and Keith Urban will preview his upcoming album Flow State, a collection of yacht rock covers from the 70s and 80s.
What the 2026 AMA Performer Lineup Means for Music Right Now
The AMAs have always leaned into the fan vote, and this year's bill reflects exactly that. Artists like sombr, with seven nominations, and the crossover pull of acts like Twenty One Pilots and Maluma signal how broadly the fan base actually votes when the gates are open. This is not a Grammy committee picking favorites. Streaming numbers, radio airplay, and tour grosses drive the nominations, which means the lineup tends to look like what people are genuinely listening to right now.
Presenter announcements add another layer. EJAE, who co-wrote HUNTR/X's "Golden" and took home both an Oscar and a Grammy in 2026, will present. Nikki Glaser, returning as Golden Globes host for a third year, and Hacks stars Megan Stalter and Paul W. Downs round out the presenter list alongside Paula Abdul.
For independent artists and creators watching the show, the fan-voted format is worth paying attention to. The metrics that drive AMA nominations, streaming, sales, airplay, and tour revenue, are the same metrics that define commercial reach at any level. Knowing how those numbers translate into cultural visibility is useful whether you're chasing a Grammy or building your first fanbase. The show airs May 25 on CBS. Fan voting for social song of the year and tour of the year stays open through the first 30 minutes of the broadcast at VoteAMAs.com. Watch to see if sombr's seven-nomination run translates into wins, and whether BTS's Hot 100 chart moment gets the full-stage moment it deserves.
