Who we are
Something Dope For The People ("Something Dope", "we", "us") is a community and production company founded in Los Angeles and operating in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Italy. Our primary contact is hello@somethingdopeforthepeople.com.
This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our site or submit to our programs, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Submission data. When you apply as an artist, vendor, brand, or intern, we collect the fields you provide: name, email, phone, location, Instagram and other social handles, music and portfolio links, and any narrative you write in the form.
- Account data. If you claim an artist profile, we store a username, hashed password (via Supabase Auth), and any optional profile fields you fill in (bio, photo, genres, socials).
- Automatic data. Standard web logs (IP address, user agent, pages viewed), analytics data, and cookies described below.
How we use it
- To respond to your submission and keep you informed about opportunities you applied for. Every submission is reviewed and replied to (typically within one week).
- To mirror submissions into our internal team workspace (Google Sheets) so our team can curate lineups, market, and press.
- To send you relevant follow ups about upcoming events, vendor slots, or collaborations when your profile matches.
- To improve the site, measure traffic, and diagnose errors.
Cookies + analytics
We use essential cookies to make the site work (sign in, session state) and analytics cookies via Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand aggregate usage. We also load the Meta pixel across the site so we can measure which adverts brought people here and show follow up adverts to people who visited. You can disable analytics and advertising cookies in your browser, and Meta offers its own ad preference controls.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers we use to operate the site and reply to you:
- Supabase, database + authentication.
- Resend, transactional email delivery (your submission confirmations).
- Google, Sheets for our internal pipeline and the Places Autocomplete service that powers the city field on submission forms.
- Vercel, hosting, analytics, deployment.
- Stripe, payment processing for internal ticketing (when active).
- Meta, advertising measurement and audience building via the Meta pixel.
We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of our community.
Text messages
When you text a keyword to our text line, we store the number you texted from, the keyword, and the time, so we can send recurring automated marketing texts: event announcements, ticket links, offers, and a link to your clip after the show. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to cancel and HELP for help.
Mobile opt in information and phone numbers will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. They are kept by Something Dope for the text line only. Twilio delivers the messages on our behalf and processes numbers only to do that.
Content you submit
When you submit music, images, or other content to Something Dope, you grant us the right to use that content to review your submission and, where relevant, to promote the event or program you applied to on our site and social channels. You retain ownership of your work.
Your rights
You can request a copy of the information we hold on you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@somethingdopeforthepeople.com. If you are in the EU or UK, you have the additional rights granted by GDPR. If you are in California, you have the additional rights granted by the CCPA.
Children
Something Dope is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Meaningful changes will be announced in our newsletter or on our Instagram.
