2Rare Releases "BussDown (1 Thing)" Featuring Amerie

Philadelphia rapper 2Rare has released "BussDown (1 Thing)," a new single featuring two-time Grammy-nominated R&B artist Amerie, out now on all streaming platforms via Epic Records. The track is produced by Hitmaka and built around a sample of Amerie's 2005 hit "1 Thing." A music video premiered on October 2, 2026 at 3PM ET.

Unlike a standard sample clearance situation, Amerie recorded all-new vocals specifically for this collaboration. That distinction matters: she is not just a clearance credit on the record. She is an active participant.

"'1 Thing' came out when I was five years old, and I grew up hearing Amerie through my mom," 2Rare said in a statement. "Now she's putting new vocals on my version of the record. She keeps thanking me for bringing new life to it, but I'm the one thanking her for giving me that blessing. It feels like two generations meeting at the perfect time."

Amerie echoed the sentiment. "'1 Thing' has always been such a special song to me, and I love seeing it continue to connect with new listeners," she said. "Working with 2Rare on this record brought a fresh energy to the song while still honoring what made the original so timeless."

The release follows a wave of teaser content posted to Instagram in September 2026, where 2Rare, Amerie, and Hitmaka shared behind-the-scenes studio footage that circulated widely before the official drop.

Who Is on the "BussDown (1 Thing)" Single and What They Bring

2Rare is a platinum-selling rapper and entertainer from Philadelphia. He was named an XXL Freshman in 2023 and built his following with melodic club and trap records, including the platinum-certified "Do It Again" featuring NLE Choppa. His catalog includes "Big Bag," "Big Drippa," "Rare Steppa," "Q-Pid," "Extra Cheese," and "Camden Bop." He has collaborated with NLE Choppa and Lil Durk, and appeared alongside Drake in the music video for "Sticky." His lane is high-energy, dance-forward music that travels fast on social media, a skillset that maps directly onto why a sample-driven record like this one makes sense for him.

Amerie, born Amerie Mi Marie Rogers, released "1 Thing" in 2005 as the lead single from her second album Touch. The song earned her Grammy nominations for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best Contemporary R&B Album. Her catalog also includes the debut album All I Have, In Love & War, and Because I Love It, along with subsequent independent projects. Beyond music, she has built a presence as an author and literary creative. She has remained active in the music space and has a track record of collaborating across generations.

Hitmaka, who produced the track, is a multi-platinum producer and former rapper whose production credits span major label hip-hop and R&B releases over the past decade. His involvement signals that this record had real resources behind it from the start, not just a quick turnaround social media flip.

When and Where to Stream "BussDown (1 Thing)"

The single is available now on all major streaming platforms. The music video is live as of October 2, 2026. No album or project has been announced in connection with this release, and no tour dates are listed in this campaign.

The press release does not name the specific streaming platforms, but the standard Epic Records rollout means the track is accessible on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, and YouTube. The music video is available on 2Rare's YouTube channel.

What Independent Artists Can Take From This Campaign

The rollout strategy here is worth studying. Before the official release, the team spent a month posting studio footage to Instagram with all three principals, 2Rare, Amerie, and Hitmaka, visible and credible on screen. The footage generated organic reaction and set up the release date with an existing audience already primed. There was no manufactured mystery, just transparent process content that doubled as promotion.

If you are an independent artist working with a more established name or sampling a known record, the behind-the-scenes documentation is the campaign. Audiences respond to the story of how a collaboration happened, especially when both artists appear genuinely invested. You do not need a label to replicate that approach.
