Ari Lennox Drops 'Hookah Baby' and Announces 'Vacancy: Late Checkout' Deluxe

Ari Lennox has released a new single, "Hookah Baby," available now on all major streaming platforms. The track is the first preview of Vacancy: Late Checkout, the deluxe edition of her third studio album. A release date for the deluxe project has not been announced.

"Hookah Baby" was co-written by Lennox and Alivia Blue. Production comes from Tommy Brown (credited as TBHits, known for his work on Ariana Grande's "thank u, next" and Ari's own "Twin Flame") and Leather Jacket (GloRilla's "Typa," Ciara's "Ecstasy"). The single's artwork doubles as the cover for the deluxe LP.

The release follows a stretch of activity for the GRAMMY-nominated R&B singer. She wrapped a 31-city North American tour in support of Vacancy in June. In July, she performed "Really Love" as part of a tribute to D'Angelo at the 2026 BET Awards, where she was also nominated for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Earlier this year, Maryland Sen. Nick Charles presented her with a state proclamation recognizing her artistry.

On the live front, Lennox was scheduled to perform at the Newport Jazz Festival at Fort Adams State Park on July 31. Upcoming dates include London's The Jazz Cafe on August 2 and V-103's 50th Anniversary Concert in Atlanta on September 6.

For independent artists paying attention to the rollout here: Lennox and her team are using a standalone single to tease a deluxe project rather than dropping everything at once. It keeps the album cycle alive, gives press a fresh news hook, and puts a live show on the same day as the release. That sequencing is worth studying regardless of the budget behind it.
