Ashe Releases New Single and Video "Stop The Wedding!" as Her Debut on Atlantic Records

Ashe has released "Stop The Wedding!", a new single and accompanying video, marking her debut release with Atlantic Records. The video was directed by Silken Weinberg.

The track was produced by Noah Conrad, whose credits include work with Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan, and co-written by Ashe alongside Conrad and Annika Bennett, who has writing credits with ROLE MODEL and Conan Gray. The song features tempo shifts, stacked vocal layers, and string arrangements.

The idea came from a personal place. Ashe married fellow musician John Clark Canada at a ceremony outside Nashville last year, and the song grew out of reflecting on that day versus her first marriage, which she says inspired her earlier song "Moral of the Story."

"I was thinking about how absolutely perfect my wedding day was, and how horrifying the first wedding was," she said. "I'm married and divorced and the only reason I have a career is because of the song I wrote about it."

She continued: "This time around, I was in my 30s and I just kept thinking about how much autonomy I have in it and how if this didn't feel right for some reason, I could totally put a halt to this whole thing. I didn't feel that freedom as a 23 year-old getting married."

The release follows Ashe's 2024 solo album Willson and her collaborative project with Finneas, The Favors, which released a debut album called The Dream. The label says further new music is coming soon.
