Beck Announces Ride Lonesome, First Album in Seven Years
Beck's new album Ride Lonesome drops September 18 via Capitol, reuniting his classic band.

Beck is back. The Los Angeles artist just announced Ride Lonesome, his first studio album in seven years, dropping September 18 via Capitol Records. He has already shared two songs from it: the title track, released back in April alongside tour news, and the new single "In the Night," which comes with a video directed by Mikai Karl and starring French actor Denis Lavant.
The "In the Night" visual is a slow, contemplative piece. Lavant moves through a crumbling apartment somewhere in France, smoking, gazing out across rooftops, disappearing into himself. It fits exactly what you would expect from a Beck record made with this particular crew.
Beck Reunites the Band Behind Morning Phase and Sea Change
The bigger story here is who made this album with him. For Ride Lonesome, Beck reunited with Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr., and Jason Falkner, the same band behind Mutations, Sea Change, and the Grammy-winning Morning Phase. They recorded at Room B inside Hollywood's United Studios, one of Beck's preferred rooms, and Nigel Godrich handled the mix.
Beck described the session as a natural evolution of that long relationship. "It had been a decade since we went in the studio and recorded Morning Phase," he said in a press release. "This time it felt like the playing and the chemistry had evolved and deepened. While we were revisiting a musical and physical place, it also felt like we were finding new sounds and emotional textures along the way."
That framing matters. This is not a nostalgia move. It is a group of musicians who have spent decades together finding out what they sound like now.
What Ride Lonesome Means for the Current Moment
Beck releasing a quiet, band-driven record through Capitol in 2025 is a signal worth reading. At a time when the industry keeps pushing artists toward singles, streaming algorithms, and feature-heavy rollouts, he is doing the opposite. A twelve-track album, a cinematic video, a proper tour, and a studio story worth telling.
For independent creators and artists watching how legacy figures handle their careers, this rollout is a clean example of leading with craft and context rather than hype. The album has a place of origin (Hollywood's United Studios), a collaborator worth naming (Godrich), and a reason to exist beyond the release schedule.
Ride Lonesome arrives September 18. The tour Beck announced in April is already on the books, so if you are trying to catch this one live, now is the time to move. Check [our events page](/events) for any LA-area dates as they get confirmed.
Full tracklist: Ride Lonesome, Run Away, In the Night, Failed Words, Bleed, Disappearing Act, For Your Love, Slow Canyon, It Ends Right Here, Falling Through My Hands, If You Don't Know What Love Is, Beyond the Light.
