Cavetown has released a new single, "Big Strong Man," alongside a music video, as UK singer-songwriter Robin Skinner prepares for the 21-date North American "Running With Scissors Tour" starting September 21, 2026.
The single is out now on all major streaming platforms. No producer credit was listed in the release materials.
What "Big Strong Man" Is About
"Big Strong Man" deals with teenage masculinity, queer identity, and the feeling of being accepted as a version of yourself that does not feel real. Skinner describes it as coming from the same period of his life that inspired "Boys Will Be Bugs," one of his most recognized songs.
In his own words: "Big Strong Man, based on a similar time in my life as Boys will be Bugs, is about my struggles with the confusing world of teenage masculinity as a young queer person, and how it sucks to feel loved for a version of yourself that isn't true."
The track follows the release of Running With Scissors, Cavetown's latest album, which also includes previously released singles "Rainbow Gal," "Baby Spoon," "NPC," and "Tarmac." The album sits in the same sonic space as earlier Cavetown work, blending bedroom pop production with pop-punk energy. Cavetown built his audience by self-recording and sharing music online before his catalog grew to include songs like "Devil Town," "Home," and "Juliet," which have connected strongly with LGBTQ+ listeners. The release does not specify a label.
"Big Strong Man" is the latest single pulled from Running With Scissors and appears to serve as a bridge between the album campaign and the upcoming tour.

What Independent Artists Can Take From This Campaign
Cavetown's rollout here is a clean example of how to extend an album's shelf life. Running With Scissors already had multiple singles out before "Big Strong Man" dropped, and now a new track arrives right as tour press kicks in. Each single gives outlets and fans a fresh reason to pay attention to the same project, rather than requiring something entirely new. The accompanying music video and a direct quote from the artist doing the emotional heavy lifting in plain language are both low-cost, replicable moves. If you are an independent artist planning a run of shows, a new single timed to your tour announcement gives the press release a harder news hook than the dates alone.
