CHVRCHES have announced their fifth studio album All the King's Men, a full-length indie rock record due January 22, 2027 via Futures Music Group, alongside a North America, UK and Ireland tour running from February through May 2027.
The album arrives on LP, CD, cassette and digital formats. A pre-order and pre-save are live now at chvrch.es.
What Is on 'All the King's Men' and How It Was Made
The 11-track record is the band's first since Screen Violence in 2021. Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty paused activity in 2023 after the Screen Violence touring cycle and, according to the release, agreed that their next project had to challenge them creatively before they returned.
Rather than working remotely as they did on Screen Violence, the three convened for multiple intensive three-week sessions in Glasgow. The city and country were deliberate choices. Doherty, who made regular trips back to Scotland during the break, reconnected with British filmmakers Shane Meadows and Ken Loach and musicians including Massive Attack, Siouxsie and the Banshees and PJ Harvey. Cook, still based in Scotland, moved away from electronics toward acoustic instruments and was listening to Nick Drake, Bert Jansch and Incredible String Band. Mayberry focused on expanding her range as a lyricist through session work.
The full tracklist is:
1. Roses 2. Evil 3. Adore You 4. Overthinker 5. Royal Blue 6. Comedown Tomorrow 7. Friend Of A Friend 8. Three Out Of Five 9. Conman 10. Jamie's Prayer 11. Faith In Flying
The lead single "Roses" is out now. The release describes it as social commentary on Britain, with Mayberry singing, "raise a glass to delusions of the good days of blood and wine; of pearls for swine." The track closes with the announcement, "If I may command your undivided attention, now we can start."
The release also names two other tracks: "Adore You" is described as a 90s pop-rock leaning cut, and "Comedown Tomorrow" as an indie ballad.
Futures Music Group is the label handling the release. CHVRCHES' previous four albums, including The Bones of What You Believe (2013), Every Open Eye (2015), Love Is Dead (2018) and Screen Violence (2021), were released on Virgin/Capitol in the US and Goodbye Records in the UK. The move to Futures marks a label change.

For independent artists, the CHVRCHES campaign is worth watching for one practical reason: they held the record for nearly six years and chose not to release until the creative case was clear. That discipline, combined with a label switch, intimate warm-up shows with a charitable angle and a staggered presale rollout, is a full re-introduction strategy that does not rely on a legacy streaming moment to do the work.
