Doja Cat and Massive Attack Primavera Sound Sets Canceled Due to Weather

Storms in Barcelona shut down the main stages at Primavera Sound 2026, wiping out Doja Cat, Massive Attack, and more.

Primavera Sound Barcelona 2026 had a rough opening night. On Thursday, June 4, severe weather tore through Parc del Fòrum, forcing the festival to pull the plug on several headlining sets across the two largest stages. Doja Cat, Massive Attack, Alex G, Mac DeMarco, and Bad Gyal were among the artists who never made it to the stage, with organizers citing "adverse weather and technical conditions" as the reason.

The Estrella Damm and Revolut stages, the biggest of the fest, took the hardest hit due to their size and exposed placement on the grounds. Some artists, including Geese, pushed through the stormy conditions. Others, like TV Girl, were cut short in front of noticeably sparse crowds as fans took shelter.

What Happened to Doja Cat's Primavera Sound Performance

Doja Cat was scheduled for an 11:30 PM set on the Revolut stage. She never got there, and she made clear how much that hurt. She went live on Instagram in tears and posted to X directly addressing her Barcelona fans: "I am fully dressed and ready to go to stage but it's just not safe enough to continue the show tonight. I will think of everything I can under the sun to make it up to you."

That kind of transparency reads differently than a standard festival cancellation notice. She was ready, the crowd was there, and the weather made the call. No spin on it.

Massive Attack fans also missed out on the group's planned PSA performance against facial recognition technology, a statement piece they had staged in a similar format the year before. That one stings a little differently given how deliberate and political those sets tend to be.

Refunds and What Comes Next for Primavera Attendees

Primavera Sound posted a full statement Friday acknowledging the frustration and confirming that no serious safety incidents occurred. On the refund side, they confirmed that Thursday single-day ticket holders will receive a full refund, with details coming Monday. Weekend pass holders are still waiting on clarity, which is a real issue for the many international attendees who built trips around this.

The festival continues through the weekend, so there is still plenty of programming ahead. Whether Doja Cat or any of the other canceled acts get rescheduled slots remains to be seen.

For artists and creatives watching from Los Angeles, this is a good reminder of how quickly a live moment can evaporate and why having a direct line to your audience matters. Doja's response, emotional and immediate, landed better with fans than any publicist statement could have. The artists who showed up on social in real time came out of the chaos with more goodwill than the stages themselves.
