Ellie Goulding is officially in her next era. The British pop artist has announced her sixth studio album, I Know Too Much, set for release on September 4 via Polydor. The news lands alongside confirmation of a new single, "Black Prada Dress," dropping this Friday, June 5.
Goulding first played the new track live at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Sunderland on May 23. She'll follow that up with a televised performance on Later... with Jools Holland on BBC Two, airing June 7. So the rollout is already moving fast.
What I Know Too Much Means for Ellie Goulding's Legacy
This album is her first full-length project since 2023's Higher Than Heaven, which debuted at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart. That result put her level with Adele for the most U.K. No. 1 albums by a British female solo artist. That's not a small thing.
Stateside, Goulding has been one of the more durable British exports on the Billboard Hot 100, stacking career entries that include the No. 2 peak of "Lights" in 2011 and the No. 3 placement of "Love Me Like You Do." Her collaborative run with Calvin Harris, Diplo, Swae Lee, and Juice WRLD has kept her name cycling through playlists well beyond the streaming era's reset of everyone's catalog.
Higher Than Heaven also gave her "Miracle" with Calvin Harris, their third collab together. The track earned Goulding a Grammy nomination for best dance pop recording and landed on Billboard's 30 Best Dance Songs of 2023 list. She's clearly not coasting.
Why the Timing Makes Sense
The announcement comes with genuine momentum behind it. Goulding's breakout track "Starry Eyed" topped the TikTok Trending Audio chart earlier this year, riding a wave of nostalgic fan edits and travel content that pulled new listeners into her back catalog. That kind of organic resurfacing is exactly the platform artists build new release cycles on top of.
For independent artists and creators watching how a long-running pop career stays culturally relevant, Goulding's approach here is worth noting. Catalog virality on TikTok converted to renewed streaming interest, which feeds into the credibility of a new single drop and a full album announcement. The sequencing is clean.
A full tracklist for I Know Too Much has not been released yet, so there's more rollout to come. Keep watch on how this one builds. If "Black Prada Dress" lands the way "Miracle" did, the fall release window could be a real moment for her.
