Ghostboyrj Drops Double Single "Fade Away / Ceremony"
The Toronto rapper's first single from his upcoming album State of Being features Joey Rose and Sport Mathews over production from Pudgegawd.

Ghostboyrj has released "Fade Away / Ceremony," a double single and the first preview of his upcoming album State of Being, due out in January 2027. Both tracks are out now across streaming platforms via GHO$TOWN RECORDS, the Toronto-based independent label Ghostboyrj founded himself.
The two-track release covers different emotional ground while pointing toward the same album. "Fade Away" is the outward-facing cut: a collaborative effort with Toronto artists Joey Rose and Sport Mathews built over a Pudgegawd beat. The track addresses ambition, self-worth, and staying loyal to your circle when others write you off. "Ceremony" turns inward, offering a reflective look at a past relationship, focusing on the clarity that comes after it ends rather than the pain of the split itself. Together the two songs frame the central theme of State of Being: how a person understands themselves while moving through the world around them.
Both tracks have accompanying videos. The "Fade Away" visual is up on YouTube now, as is the "Ceremony" video. You can stream the single at ghostboyrj.lnk.to/FadeCeremony.
Who Is on the "Fade Away / Ceremony" Single
Ghostboyrj is a Toronto rapper recording and releasing through GHO$TOWN RECORDS, which he founded. This double single is the first material he has shared ahead of State of Being.
Joey Rose and Sport Mathews are featured on "Fade Away." Both are Toronto-area artists. Joey Rose has been active in the city's independent rap scene; Sport Mathews has collaborated within the same circle of artists that GHO$TOWN RECORDS is building around.
Pudgegawd handled production on "Fade Away." Pudgegawd is a Toronto-based producer who has worked across the city's independent hip-hop landscape, known for textured, sample-rooted beats that give rappers room to work.
The press release does not list a producer for "Ceremony," and the label's full press kit at ghostownrecords.ca has additional details, artwork, and photos.
What State of Being Is and When It Drops
State of Being is Ghostboyrj's upcoming album, scheduled for January 2027 on GHO$TOWN RECORDS. According to the release, the project centers on self-understanding and how identity holds up against outside pressure. "Fade Away / Ceremony" is the first single, which means more music from the album should follow before the January release date.
GHO$TOWN RECORDS describes itself as a Toronto-based independent label. Ghostboyrj serves as both the label's founder and its flagship artist, which puts him in a position that a lot of independent artists in this community are navigating right now: building the business infrastructure while also building the catalog. That dual role means every release decision and every rollout strategy is coming directly from the artist, not a third party with different priorities.
The double-single format is worth noting. Releasing two songs at once, each serving a different emotional function, gives listeners a fuller picture of the album's range without dropping an overwhelming body of work. "Fade Away" works as the entry point for fans of collaborative rap with a sharp, competitive edge. "Ceremony" gives the project a personal anchor. If someone connects with one track and not the other, they still land somewhere inside the album's world. That is a practical rollout move for an independent artist trying to reach multiple listener types with limited budget and without a major label's promotional machinery behind it.
For independent artists thinking about their own single strategy, the structure here is a real-world example: pair a feature-heavy, outward-facing track with a solo introspective one, release them together, and let the contrast do the work of showing range. It costs the same to release two songs as one, and it gives music writers and playlist curators more to work with.
