KATSEYE Appears at Daisy Chain Fields After Canceling Set

KATSEYE could not perform at Olivia Rodrigo's inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Festival this weekend, but three members of the group refused to stay home entirely. Yoonchae, Lara, and Megan made a surprise appearance on the Dandelion Stage in Irvine, California on August 29, just before Devon Again took the slot KATSEYE was originally booked to headline.

Megan sprained her ankle during rehearsals, and the group announced Thursday that she would not be cleared to perform. Her doctors told her to rest the injury ahead of tour, which made the call non-negotiable. Still, the trio showed up in person to introduce Baby2Baby, a nonprofit that provides children in poverty with diapers, clothing, and necessities, as part of the festival's broader charity mission.

"We're so disappointed that we can't perform today on stage, but my ankle is on hiatus," Megan told the crowd. "But our hearts are definitely not."

For a one-day festival at a park complex in Irvine, that number is serious. Rodrigo built the event as a charity platform from the start, and the execution backed that up. Devon Again, the artist who filled KATSEYE's slot, performed to a crowd that had already seen three members of the group they came to watch make a brief, warm appearance from the stage.

For independent artists and creators watching this moment: the takeaway is not that KATSEYE performed through an injury. They did not. The takeaway is that they showed up in a non-performing capacity and still contributed something real to the event, which is a smarter long-term play than pushing through and risking the tour.
