# Mai Anna Drops "Baby Blue EP" Before Debut LP
Mai Anna has released the Baby Blue EP, a five-track R&B collection, via Epic Records / Not So Fast. The EP is out now on all major streaming platforms and serves as a prelude to her forthcoming debut album, Sleepy Eyes.
The project brings together three previously released singles, "Chameleon" (featuring Chloe George), "Baby Blue," and "Sugar High," alongside two new versions: "Baby Blue (Acoustic)" and "Sugar High (シュガーハイ)," a Japanese-language reimagining of the latter track. The tracklist runs in that order on all DSPs.
What Is on the Baby Blue EP and Who Made It
The two new recordings pull the project in different directions on purpose. "Baby Blue (Acoustic)" strips the song back to its earliest form. According to the release, it is built around the first version Mai Anna and her longtime collaborator Solomon Fox worked up together after they moved to Los Angeles, with Fox on piano. The acoustic arrangement is also tied to the "Baby Blue" visual, in which Mai Anna, a classically trained figure skater, performed on ice with Fox accompanying her live.
"Sugar High (シュガーハイ)" takes the opposite path. The release describes how the rhythms, syllable structure and wordplay of the Japanese language reshape the song and affected how Mai Anna wrote and sang it. The original "Sugar High" had already found a wider audience through an official placement on the FIFA Heroes videogame soundtrack.
Chloe George, who appears on "Chameleon," is a singer-songwriter who built an audience through TikTok and released music via Republic Records. Her presence on the track is the EP's most prominent featured credit.
Mai Anna is signed to Epic Records in partnership with Not So Fast. Sleepy Eyes, her debut LP, has not yet received a release date, but the label describes it as an 11-song set.
"I've always been scared of being understood in just one dimension," Mai Anna said in the release. "Music gives me a space to explore all these different versions of myself. These songs each show a different layer of who I am, and revisiting them gave me a chance to push those layers even further before sharing the full world of Sleepy Eyes."
When Mai Anna Plays Los Angeles and New York With Givēon
Mai Anna joins Givēon for two dates this November. The first is November 17 at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. The second is November 19 at Carnegie Hall in New York City. No other tour dates are listed in the release.
Givēon is a Long Beach-born R&B singer signed to Epic Records, known for his bass-heavy vocals and songs including "Heartbreak Anniversary" and his feature on Drake's "Chicago Freestyle." The shared label relationship between Mai Anna and Givēon makes the pairing a logical one for Epic's live strategy around her release cycle.

Mai Anna's Background and How Baby Blue EP Fits Her Story
Mai Anna was born in Queens, New York and is now based in Los Angeles. The release positions her as a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with roots in jazz and neo-soul. Before this EP, she performed at The Basement Series in the Vinyl Room at the Hollywood Palladium and at Conscious Music Circle in Los Angeles. Sessions with On The Radar and Red Couch Show have also put her voice in front of wider audiences online.
According to the release, she has received a co-sign from SZA and coverage from Billboard, VIBE, COLORSxSTUDIOS and The Joe Budden Podcast. The release also credits cross-platform playlist support including Spotify R&B Weekly, Apple Music R&B Now, Amazon Music Breakthrough R&B and a TIDAL R&B Rising cover. These are the label's claims and have not been independently verified.
For independent artists watching this campaign, the structure here is worth studying. Epic and Not So Fast are using an EP of mostly existing material to build context around a debut album that has no release date yet. The two new versions give press and playlists a reason to revisit older songs, the FIFA sync adds commercial credibility, and the Givēon dates put Mai Anna in front of large rooms before the LP drops. That is a sequenced rollout built to warm audiences gradually rather than spend everything on a single drop.
