oktehya Drops Debut EP 'a changeable feast' on Neon Gold Records

oktehya (formerly TEHYA) released her five-track EP a changeable feast on August 14, 2026, via Neon Gold Records and Futures. The project includes the focus track "complicated," along with "catch//release," "buckwild," "the patriot," and "4L."

Of "complicated," she said: "Complicated is a song about being attracted to someone you shouldn't be. The palpable tension between two people keeping an unspoken secret."

The EP follows last month's single "4L," which she has described as a song about toxic-adjacent, all-consuming loyalty. Earlier releases include "the patriot," "spoons for sweets," and "trap door."

oktehya grew up in the Pacific Northwest and is of Cherokee, Filipino, and Scotch-Irish heritage. She left home at 16 and found her footing in Seattle's Capitol Hill underground rap scene. She taught herself Pro Tools and FL Studio by sitting in on sessions, and she plays guitar, keys, and drums. She writes all of her own toplines and lyrics.

Neon Gold Records, her label, has also released music from Charli XCX, Tove Lo, MARINA, and Christine and the Queens, according to the press release. The release says oktehya has appeared on the cover of NME and landed on Spotify's Fresh Finds playlist.

For independent artists learning production, oktehya's path is worth noting. She built her technical skills by showing up to other people's sessions until she was trusted with the tools. That's a real and repeatable model.
