OMB Peezy released his new single "What She Wants" on October 2, 2026, a track that samples TLC's 1999 hit "No Scrubs" and features South Carolina rapper Trap Dickey. The single arrives alongside an official music video and is the second track released ahead of his forthcoming album Save Yourself, due October 16, 2026.
The video, out now on YouTube, was shot poolside and features both Peezy and Trap Dickey. You can stream "What She Wants" on Spotify and all major platforms now.
What "What She Wants" Is Actually About
TLC's "No Scrubs" was built around one core idea: stop entertaining people who bring nothing to the table. Peezy takes that same foundation and turns it around. Where the original called out men with no ambition, Peezy applies the standard to himself, making the case that settling for a partner who does not support your grind is its own kind of losing. Trap Dickey adds guest bars that carry the same energy.
According to the release, the track is meant as an anthem for anyone locked in on their goals. That framing is intentional. Peezy is not just interpolating a classic for name recognition. He is using the sample to make a point about mutual accountability, which gives the song a different angle than the typical love song or flexer.
The TLC sample clears a high bar for mainstream recognition. "No Scrubs" remains one of the most-recognized R&B records of the past 30 years, which means this single is positioned to travel beyond Peezy's existing fanbase and pull in listeners searching the original.
Who Is OMB Peezy and Who Is Trap Dickey
OMB Peezy is an Oakland, California rapper who has built a reputation for blending West Coast and Southern rap influences. The New York Times described him as "tough but melodic, with a youthfully urgent voice and production that's indebted to Louisiana and California." Pitchfork called him "a true original." The FADER noted his ability to bridge regional sounds at a time when geography matters less to the industry than it once did.
His prior catalog includes a run of projects that established him as a consistent independent voice in the California rap scene. Save Yourself will be his next full-length project. "What She Wants" is the second single from that album, meaning at least one other track has already been released in the lead-up to the October 16 drop date.
Trap Dickey is a rapper from South Carolina. The release does not include additional background on his catalog, but his inclusion signals that Peezy is pulling collaborators from outside his immediate regional circle for this project, which fits the genre-blending approach he has been associated with throughout his career.
The release is being handled by Audible Treats, a New York-based music PR firm that works with a range of independent and label-affiliated artists.
What Comes Next: Save Yourself Drops October 16
"What She Wants" is a single, not a standalone release. The album Save Yourself arrives two weeks later on October 16, 2026. No tracklist or additional features have been announced in the materials provided. No tour dates are included in the current release.
If you want to hear more before the album lands, Peezy is active on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, SoundCloud, YouTube, and Spotify. The music video for "What She Wants" is live on YouTube now.
For independent artists watching this campaign, the TLC flip is worth studying as a strategy. Sampling a song that has decades of search traffic and cultural memory attached to it means every person who looks up "No Scrubs" is a potential new listener. The concept also travels in a headline, which makes press pickup easier. You do not need a major budget to build a release around a strong conceptual hook. The idea has to be clear and the execution has to be clean. Peezy's campaign here does both.
