Oprah Winfrey is bringing a full weekend of live performance, storytelling, and immersive spectacle to Las Vegas' Sphere. Oprah Winfrey's AHA is scheduled for April 2, 3, and 4, 2027, and it is being positioned as one of the more ambitious non-concert events the venue has hosted since it opened.
The concept was born directly from Winfrey's experience at the Sphere's very first residency. U2 opened the venue in 2023 with their U2: UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere run, and Winfrey was in the audience for opening night. That visit sparked the idea. "AHA is a dream that came to me as I sat in awe at the opening night of U2 at the Sphere, mesmerized by the possibilities of how the space could be used as a tool for creating greater awareness and understanding of ourselves and our connection to each other," she said in a statement.
The show runs two hours and puts Winfrey on stage alongside a lineup built across music, poetry, and visual art. It is presented by Live Nation and produced by Emmy winner Baz Halpin of Silent House Group, with direction from Ethan Tobman.
Who Is Performing at Oprah's AHA at the Sphere
The confirmed talent list spans multiple disciplines. Seven-time Grammy winner Jacob Collier is performing, which alone is worth paying attention to. Collier's ability to move between genres and his reputation for technically stunning live arrangements makes him a genuine fit for a production built around sensory impact.
Poet and author Ocean Vuong, known for the novel On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, is on the bill. Gospel singer Wintley Phipps and musician Ajeet round out the live performance side. The show's music direction is being handled by a team that includes Oscar nominee Max Richter, who scored Hamnet and has built a reputation for orchestral work that sits somewhere between classical and ambient. Grammy-winning vocal director Jason White and Grammy-nominated electronic artist and composer Jon Hopkins are also shaping the sound.
On the creative side, the show features writing from Tarell Alvin McCraney, the Oscar-winning screenwriter behind Moonlight and a MacArthur Genius grant recipient. Visual artist Es Devlin, who has designed stage productions for Beyoncé, Adele, and Kanye West among many others, is contributing original work alongside the Plum Village Monks.
The executive producer team includes Winfrey herself, Harpo Entertainment's Tara McNally Montgomery, Fulwell Entertainment co-founder Ben Winston (who has produced Grammy telecasts and major live events), Together Live founder Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, and Pinterest co-founder Evan Sharp in a consulting role.
What Oprah's AHA Means for the Sphere as a Creative Venue
The Sphere's early identity was built almost entirely around music. U2 established the template, and Dead & Company, Eagles, and others followed. What Oprah's AHA signals is that the venue is actively expanding into event formats that do not fit neatly into the concert category. A two-hour live experience built around storytelling, original composition, visual art, and a host who is neither a musician nor a director is genuinely new territory for the space.
For independent creators, artists, and producers watching the industry, that matters. The Sphere was always going to attract the biggest names with the biggest budgets, but the range of disciplines represented in AHA's production team shows that the venue is becoming a proving ground for hybrid live formats. Es Devlin designing for a Winfrey event is the same Es Devlin who has pushed live stage design into museum-level territory for years. Max Richter composing for a two-hour experiential show is a different kind of commission than a film score. These are collaborations that push what a live event can be.
Presale sign-up and weekend packages are available now. General on-sale begins September 25 at 10 a.m. PT. If you are tracking how major creative productions are being structured and who is getting called in to build them, this is one to watch closely as more details surface closer to 2027.
For LA-based creators interested in large-scale immersive production, events like this tend to generate ripple effects in hiring, creative briefs, and what clients start asking for. Keep an eye on how the Sphere's programming continues to evolve over the next year.
