PinkPantheress is stepping in front of the camera. The UK pop artist, born Victoria Beverley Walker, has been cast in the upcoming untitled film from directing duo Daniels, according to Deadline. It marks her feature acting debut, and the company she is keeping is not small.

The project comes from Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the pair behind Everything Everywhere All At Once, which pulled off a genuine upset when it won Best Picture at the 2023 Oscars. The new film's plot is still under wraps, but the cast already includes Matt Damon, Sandra Oh, Charles Melton, Michael Gandolfini, and several others. PinkPantheress now joins that lineup.

What PinkPantheress Joining a Daniels Film Actually Signals

The casting is not as random as it might look on the surface. Before Daniels were feature directors, they came up in music video work, and that background kept bleeding into their film career. Everything Everywhere All At Once pulled in Son Lux, Mitski, and David Byrne for its soundtrack and Oscar-nominated original song "This Is A Life." Music and cinema have always been part of the same creative world for these two.

PinkPantheress herself has spent the last few years building a catalog that pulls from UK garage, pop, and drum and bass in ways that have made her one of the more distinctive voices in her generation of artists. She has charted internationally and landed high-profile collaborations, so the leap to a prestige film set tracks with where her profile sits right now.

For independent artists and creators watching this space, the move is worth paying attention to. Artists crossing into film through directors who actually understand music is a different path than the standard celebrity casting route. Daniels are not grabbing a name for a press bump. Their history suggests the collaboration will be intentional.

Details on the film's story, timeline, and release window are still being held close. But with a cast this stacked and a directorial team coming off a Best Picture win, the moment PinkPantheress appears in a trailer, the conversation around her is going to shift significantly.

Keep it locked here as more comes out on the project. If you are an artist working across music and visual mediums and want to be part of a community tracking where those worlds connect, check out what we have going on at [our events page](/events).
