Shudder To Think Announce 'Who Sent You?' EP

Shudder To Think are releasing "Who Sent You?", a three-song EP, on September 11 via Dischord Records. The title track is out now alongside a visualizer. The EP marks the band's first recorded project in close to three decades, following their 2025 return to live performance after more than a decade away from stages.

The full EP tracklist is: "Who Sent You?", "Something To Do", and "Release The Ball".

The title track is available to stream now on Spotify and Apple Music. The EP can be pre-saved on both platforms ahead of the September 11 release date.

What Craig Wedren Says About "Who Sent You?"

Vocalist Craig Wedren wrote the song about his teenage years in Cleveland before relocating to Washington DC. "'Who Sent You?' is about my teenage years in Cleveland in the 1980s, just before I moved to D.C. with my outsized emotions: young, horny, bored," Wedren says. "It's both a collage of memories, refracted through the prism of time, and a message back to my younger self ('sense your way home'). Above all, it's a nocturnal THANK YOU to all of the girls, family, friends, music, and invisible hands that lit the path, angels and devils both. Who, indeed, sent you??"

Wedren also notes that the song "unintentionally encompasses multiple eras of Shudder To Think."

Who Is In Shudder To Think Right Now

The current lineup brings back three members from the band's "Pony Express Record" era: Craig Wedren on lead vocals, Nathan Larson on guitar, and Adam Wade on drums. They are joined by Clint Walsh on guitar and Jherek Bischoff on bass.

Beyond the band, Wedren and Larson have spent the years between Shudder To Think records building careers as film and television composers. Wedren's credits include "Yellowjackets", "Wet Hot American Summer", "The School Of Rock", and "Laurel Canyon". Larson has scored "Our Idiot Brother", "The Skeleton Twins", "Juliet, Naked", and the TV adaptation of "High Fidelity".

The band released their 2025 comeback 7" single "Thirst Walk" / "Playback" on Dischord, the Washington DC independent label they recorded for early in their career. That 7" sold out its initial pressing and has since been repressed. Physical copies will be available at the fall tour dates and at select record stores.

"Who Sent You?" returns the band to Dischord as well, completing a full-circle moment. Their 1994 major label debut "Pony Express Record" came out on Epic Records. In 2024, the band marked that album's 30th anniversary. Pitchfork published a Sunday Review of the record, rating it 9.1, calling it "one of the strangest, most exhilarating products of the post-'Nevermind' alternative rock boom." Stereogum called it "a masterwork of alternate dimension progressive pop."

The band also scored three films in 1998 before stepping back from recording: "First Love, Last Rites" directed by Jesse Peretz, "High Art" directed by Lisa Cholodenko, and Todd Haynes' "Velvet Goldmine".

The band has three fall 2026 dates scheduled. These are listed as their only live appearances of 2026., September 11: First Unitarian Church, Philadelphia, PA (SOLD OUT) with Miss Grit, September 12: Bowery Ballroom, New York, NY with Miss Grit, September 20: The Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Los Angeles, CA

Miss Grit supports on both East Coast shows. The Los Angeles date at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery does not list a support act in the release. Remaining tickets are available at linktr.ee/shuddertothinkofficial.

What Independent Artists Can Take From This Campaign

Shudder To Think's rollout here is a clean case study in pacing a return. They came back in 2025 with live shows and a limited physical release that sold out, which created real demand before any new music existed. The 7" repress gives them product to bring to the tour. The EP drops the same day the tour starts, so every show is also a release event. And they stayed on Dischord, an independent label, for the new material rather than chasing a major deal.
