LA artist and producer Frankie Beanie, recording as supermodel*, released his debut mixtape cupid! on July 31 via his own label, you can do it too*. The 10-track project is presented as a continuous mix and draws on sunny guitars, breakbeats, and half-sung vocals across styles that shift from post-punk to R&B to hip-hop-adjacent folk.

The release arrives alongside a new single, "i'll be there", the opening track on the tape. Built on upbeat drums and acoustic guitar, the song finds Frankie making his case to a romantic interest over rapped verses and a pop-punk chorus. It is the only previously unreleased track on the project; the rest collects singles dropped over the past year, including "cherry garcia," "adidas," and "blue monday."

Frankie spoke about the project in a statement: "obviously if you listen to cupid! at face value it's primarily a record about love, most of it coming from a breakup i went through last year. but my intention was not to make something sad, i wanted to make something that gave people what i was looking for in that time. i think really all we want deep down is connection, and to be understood. i hope people find that through this tape."

He added: "a lot of conversations i had during the time of making it revolved around what my goals are with the supermodel* project, now that it's a year in. what i found is that my real goal is to make supermodel* something bigger than myself."

The mixtape is out on Frankie's own imprint, which is worth noting for independent artists watching how newer acts are moving. He built the project over roughly a year and a half, self-directing multiple videos and running companion content through Tumblr and a SoundCloud series called "cupid! radio."

Frankie was born in Front Royal, Virginia, spent time studying music in Liverpool before leaving his degree program, and landed in LA in 2024. He had previously released the **supermodel* ep** in October 2025, a six-song set that included earlier singles.

With the tape out, supermodel* is currently in the middle of a UK and EU tour. Upcoming dates include festival slots at Syd for Solen in Copenhagen, Way Out West in Gothenburg, and Pukkelpop in Hasselt, plus headliner shows in Oslo and at London's The George Tavern as part of Dork Magazine's Big Dork Summer series.
