The Avalanches have announced their fourth studio album, 'No Bad Memories,' set for release October 16, 2026 via Interscope Capitol. Alongside the announcement, the group has shared new single 'Can't Get Over Losing You,' featuring Baton Rouge-based self-taught producer and multi-instrumentalist Portraits of Tracy.

According to the release, the album was inspired by the ways advertising and brand technology intersect with personal memory, specifically the pull of commercial jingles, proprietary startup sounds, and audio logos from childhood.

"It's been interesting as adults to reflect on this often stunning period of marketing, the creativity, filmmaking, photography and music, but which was also, you know, selling a completely unobtainable dream," the band said in a statement. "Taking these sound sources from within the heart of this kinda corporate framework and flipping the fragments into our own kind of joyous pop music... eventually we arrived at this world of 'No Bad Memories.'" The Avalanches are Robbie Chater, Tony Di Blasi, and Andy Szekeres.

'Can't Get Over Losing You' is described as the fourth preview of the album. Chater spoke directly about the collaboration with Portraits of Tracy: "Tracy's production and mixing is insane but it's her voice and songwriting that break my heart time after time, truly a generational talent. We feel very fortunate to make music together."

Portraits of Tracy, who emerged in 2023 with an 18-track debut concept record called 'Drive Home,' added: "Working with The Avalanches was such an awesome experience. We started the song in 2024 and rerecorded it and finished it in 2025, and now she just sounds lovely."

The single follows three earlier previews of the album: 'Blue Shadows' featuring Karen O, 'Every Single Weekend' with Jamie xx, and 'Together' with Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza, and Prentiss.

On the live side, The Avalanches recently performed at Primavera Sound Barcelona and have upcoming headline shows at Terminal 5 in New York City in October and London's The Roundhouse as part of Pitchfork Music Festival in November. DJ sets in France, Italy, and Belgium are also scheduled.

For independent artists, the Portraits of Tracy feature is worth noting. She is a self-taught producer from Louisiana who has been releasing music since 2023. Her path from a debut concept record to a feature on a major label album release shows how regional, DIY artists can build relationships and land significant placements on their own terms.
