This Is Lorelei, the solo project of Nate Amos, has released a new single called 'Oh No Now My' along with a stop-motion animation video directed by Julia Fernandez. The track is the latest preview of his upcoming album 'The Singer in My Band,' due September 11 via Matador Records.

Amos described the song's origin in a statement: "'Oh No Now My' is a song that ate itself, there were 3 versions of it before it landed here, where it has nothing in common with the original. I think it's good but it's hard to sing. I hope you like it."

The new album is an 11-track record that Amos engineered, produced, and performed almost entirely himself. He tracked most of it in his apartment, with final work done at his parents' house in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Contributions came from his father, bluegrass musician Bob Amos, who plays banjo on the title track, as well as vocals from his sister Sarah Amos and his partner Al Nardo. The album was written largely on the road, with Amos developing ideas while touring without access to instruments.

"The ideas incubated while daydreaming in the car without access to any instruments," Amos said. "So instead of being home and writing on the guitar or a computer, they developed slowly and subconsciously, existing as a sort of intangible thing while looking out the van window."

For independent artists, Amos is a useful case study in what a self-contained recording approach can produce at a major indie label level. He handled engineering and production himself and brought in family members as collaborators, keeping the creative circle tight while signing to an established imprint.

Amos is also a member of Water From Your Eyes. His previous This Is Lorelei full-length, 'Box for Buddy, Box for Star' (2024), received a deluxe version featuring collaborators including MJ Lenderman, Hayley Williams, and Jeff Tweedy, according to the release.

A full tour runs from August through December, including festival appearances at Just Like Heaven in Pasadena on August 22 and Riot Fest in Chicago on September 20, as well as Primavera Sound dates in Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo. Several headlining shows are already sold out, including the October 14 date at The Roxy in Los Angeles. The tour includes support slots with Bleachers, Colin Miller, @ ("At"), and Dark Tea across different legs.
