Valley Drop New Single 'someday' via Capitol Records

Canadian indie-pop band Valley released their new single "someday" on July 31, 2026, via Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada. The track follows "Vending Machine" and marks the latest release from the trio of Rob Laska (lead vocals, guitar), Alex Dimauro (bass), and Karah James (vocals, drums).

The song centers on the tension between saving things for the right moment and realizing that moment may never arrive. The band explained the idea behind it directly:

> "We tend to live like life has a 'special occasion' setting. We save the good bottle, the money, the cologne, the outfit we love, waiting for the right moment to justify it. But more often than not, that moment never comes, and the life we were saving them for quietly passes us by. In the meantime, we fill the space with whatever's easy. Wonderbread, quick hits, things that get us through the day but don't really nourish us. Always like we're holding out for a perfect experience. There's an irony in saving something meaningful for 'later' while starving yourself of it now."

According to the release, "someday" and "Vending Machine" are connected by a shared theme of perspective and storytelling, building toward a new chapter of music for the band. Valley's last full-length, Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden, came out in 2024.

The band formed in 2016 when two high school bands were accidentally double-booked at the same studio. Their single "Like 1999" later earned Gold certification in Canada.
