The 60th annual CMA Awards are coming into focus. Final-round voting opened October 1 for CMA voting members, with ballots closing October 27 at 6 p.m. CT. The show airs live on ABC on November 18 at 8 p.m. from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, and for the first time it will stream simultaneously on Disney+, with a next-day replay on Hulu.

Lainey Wilson returns as host for the second consecutive year, which already puts her in the history books. No woman has solo-hosted the CMA Awards twice. Dolly Parton hosted once in 1988, Reba McEntire once in 1991. Wilson is the first to do it back-to-back.

This year's show also marks the end of an era on the business side. Sarah Trahern, who has served as CMA CEO since 2014, is retiring at year's end. Her successor, Brittany Schaffer, former dean of the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University in Nashville, stepped in September 8 and has been working alongside Trahern during the transition.

What Records Could Fall at the 60th CMA Awards

Lainey Wilson is positioned for one of the biggest nights in CMA history. She has won Entertainer of the Year in two of the last three years. A third win would make her the first woman to take the award three times. Barbara Mandrell won it in 1980 and 1981. Taylor Swift won it in 2009 and 2011. No woman has won a third time.

If Wilson wins Entertainer of the Year while hosting, she would also become just the third person to pull that double on the same night twice. Mandrell did it in 1980 and 1981. Vince Gill did it in 1993 and 1994. Wilson already did it once last year.

She is also in contention for Female Vocalist of the Year for what could be her fifth win in that category. Miranda Lambert holds the record at seven, and is nominated again this year. Carrie Underwood also reached five wins. Wilson joining that club would be a legitimate milestone.

Why the Single of the Year Race Is Worth Your Attention

The CMA Awards only hand out trophies in 12 categories total, compared to the Grammy Awards' 100-plus. That tight field tends to make each category matter more, and this year's Single of the Year race reflects that weight.

Three of the five nominees for Single of the Year cracked the top five of the Billboard Hot 100. That has not happened in more than 50 years. Country music's mainstream crossover moment is not hypothetical this cycle. It is showing up in the data.

For independent artists and label teams paying attention to where country is moving commercially, that chart crossover signal is worth tracking. The artists competing in that category are pulling numbers that most genres would envy, and the CMA voter base is being asked to weigh in on music that has already proven itself in the broader market.

What This Means Going Into Awards Season

The 60th CMA Awards are a legitimate cultural checkpoint heading into the end of 2025. The show carries institutional weight for the country music industry, but the numbers driving this year's race connect to a broader conversation about which genres are crossing into mainstream pop territory and why.

For creators and industry watchers in the LA orbit, the CMA moment is a signal. When country singles are landing in the top five of the Hot 100, the genre is not operating in isolation. The collaborators, producers, and songwriters behind those records are getting attention from labels and brands across the industry.

Wilson's potential triple at Entertainer of the Year would be the headline, but the story underneath it is about country's commercial footprint expanding in real time. Watch the Single of the Year category on November 18. The artists nominated there are the ones setting the terms for what comes next.
