Earl Sweatshirt Postpones Tour With MIKE Due to Injury
Earl Sweatshirt needs surgery after an injury forces the postponement of his North American tour with MIKE.

Earl Sweatshirt has postponed his North American tour with MIKE after suffering an injury that requires surgery. Venues on the tour posted the news Thursday, confirming Earl needs a full recovery period before he can perform again. No new dates have been announced, and there has been no word yet on whether the European leg, scheduled to begin in August, is also affected.
The tour was set to kick off Tuesday in Riverside, California, with Surf Gang member Harrison opening most dates. It was built around Pompeii // Utility, the joint double album Earl and MIKE released a couple of months ago, with Surf Gang handling all the production. Earl also missed SXSW London earlier this week for the same reason, with organizers citing "an accident" as the cause. The nature of the injury has not been disclosed.
New Music From Earl Sweatshirt, Navy Blue, and Harrison Still Arrives
While the tour news is a setback, the music keeps moving. Earl shows up on two releases this week. His collaborator Navy Blue just dropped his new LP Sir Render on Freedom Sounds, featuring guests including Armand Hammer and the late Ka. Earl appears on the Alchemist-produced track "Belladonna," rapping about a rage-fog state of mind and referencing Lil B and Cormega. It is the kind of dense, interior rap that Earl's audience expects, and it delivers.
Harrison, the Surf Gang co-founder who co-produced Pompeii // Utility, also released his debut solo mixtape this week. Taking a walk and calling a car home is out now on Surf Gang/Decent, and it leans into ambient instrumentals rather than traditional rap. Earl does not rap on it, but he co-produced the track "officeloop with t + e" alongside Harrison and fellow Surf Gang producer Elipropperr. It is a low-key but telling credit, showing how deep the creative exchange runs in that circle.
Both albums are out now and worth your time. Sir Render in particular is a strong record, and the Earl feature sits well within it.
What This Means for Fans and Independent Artists Watching the Scene
For ticketholders, the move is frustrating but straightforward: hold your tickets and wait for rescheduled dates. Earl's team has not announced anything yet, so patience is the play.
For independent artists and producers paying attention to how this crew operates, the bigger story is the output itself. Surf Gang continues to build a self-contained ecosystem, handling production, features, and releases across multiple projects at the same time. Harrison's debut, Navy Blue's album, and the earlier Pompeii // Utility all arrive within the same window, feeding each other's audiences without relying on a major label structure. That model is worth studying.
Keep an eye on Earl's channels and the Surf Gang accounts for rescheduled tour dates. If you want to stay on top of live shows and events in the LA area while you wait, check out [what's coming up on our events calendar](/events).
