Rosalía is getting her flowers. Billboard and Telemundo announced Thursday that the Barcelona-born artist will receive the Billboard Hall of Fame Award at the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards, set to air live on Telemundo and Peacock on October 22 from the James L. Knight Center in Miami.

The Hall of Fame Award is not handed out casually. It recognizes artists who have achieved worldwide recognition while moving across genres, languages, and disciplines in ways most artists never attempt. Rosalía qualifies on every count.

How Rosalía Built a Career That Earned This

The story starts in 2018 with El Mal Querer, the album that reframed flamenco as something urgent and modern instead of something preserved in amber. That record did not just win awards. It signaled that Rosalía was operating on a different frequency than almost anyone else working in Latin or global music at the time.

In 2022, Motomami pushed things further. She wrote it, performed it, recorded it, and produced it herself. The album debuted in the top 40 of the all-genre Billboard 200 and hit No. 1 on Top Latin Pop Albums, where it held that position for 25 weeks across 2022 and 2023. The Motomami World Tour followed and confirmed that her audience was not niche. It was global and growing.

Then came LUX in 2025, her most ambitious project to date. The album spans 13 different languages, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 (her first top 10 on that chart), and opened at No. 1 on five Billboard charts simultaneously: Top Latin Albums, Top Latin Pop Albums, Classical Albums, Classical Crossover, and World Albums. Her LUX Tour wrapped 57 sold-out dates. That is not a Latin music story or a flamenco story. That is a world music story, and Rosalía is writing it.

What the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards Look Like

Rosalía is also a six-time finalist at this year's ceremony, so the Hall of Fame honor is not the only reason to tune in. She is expected to be in attendance to accept the award in person on October 22.

The broader show is stacked. Peso Pluma leads all finalists with 17 nominations, followed by Tito Double P with 15 and Fuerza Regida with 12. Karol G holds nine nominations, Prince Royce eight, and Bad Bunny seven. Rubén Blades is also being honored with the Icon Award that evening, which makes October 22 a genuinely significant night for Latin music recognition, not just a telecast.

The ceremony is part of Billboard Latin Music Week, which runs October 19 through 22 in Miami Beach. That week's lineup includes Fuerza Regida, Maluma, Pitbull, Kany García, Greeicy, Trueno, Rawayana, and others. Tickets for the awards ceremony itself are available now on Ticketmaster. The show airs at 8 p.m. ET on Telemundo, with blue-carpet coverage starting at 7 p.m. ET. You can also stream it through the Telemundo app, Peacock, and Telemundo Internacional across Latin America and the Caribbean.

For artists and creators watching Rosalía's trajectory, the lesson is not that you need to genre-hop for its own sake. The lesson is that a singular, uncompromising artistic vision, maintained across a decade of work, is still the most durable path to recognition at this level. She did not follow a format. She built her own. That is the move worth studying.
