Sombr is only 21 years old and already selling out the Kia Forum. On Saturday night (Oct. 10), the rising pop singer turned his Los Angeles headline into a full-circle moment by bringing Fleetwood Mac legend Lindsey Buckingham onstage for a live rendition of "Go Your Own Way," the 1977 Rumours classic that peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

"I grew up on this guy, I think we all grew up on this guy," Sombr told the crowd before introducing the 77-year-old guitarist. Buckingham came out in a black tee and leather jacket, strapped on a burgundy electric guitar, and locked in with Sombr on the song's chorus. The room clearly knew every word.

What Made the LA Show More Than a Typical Collab Moment

The Buckingham appearance wasn't the only curveball of the night. Earlier in the set, Sombr brought out Jesse Rutherford of The Neighbourhood to perform "Sweater Weather," the band's 2013 breakout that has become one of the most enduring alternative pop songs of the past decade. Rutherford hit the stage in shades and a zipped leather jacket, and the crowd was already screaming the opening verse before he could finish the first bar. "And all I am is a man / I want the world in my hands / I hate the beach, but I stand / in California with my toes in the sand" landed exactly the way you'd expect it to in an LA room.

Two guest moments, one headline show, zero wasted stage time. Sombr is clearly building sets that people will talk about, which matters when you're trying to turn a streaming fanbase into a touring one.

Where Sombr's You Are the Reason Tour Goes Next

The LA show was a peak moment, but the tour is just getting started. Sombr's next date on the You Are the Reason tour is Oct. 13 at Pechanga Arena in San Diego. From there he moves through Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Missouri before closing out the 2026 U.S. run at Q102's Jingle Ball in Philadelphia on Dec. 15.

After that, things go international. He plays a pair of January 2027 shows in Mexico City, heads to South America for festival dates in March, then wraps the run with shows in Australia and New Zealand in April. That is not a small-artist routing. That is a world tour.

For context on where Sombr sits right now: he performed at the 2026 MTV VMAs at Peacock Theater in September, where he was also noted for a quiet tribute to George Michael through wardrobe. He's not sneaking up on anyone at this point. The Kia Forum is 17,000 seats, and the crowd he drew to hear him perform alongside a Fleetwood Mac co-founder and one of alternative radio's most beloved acts tells you the fanbase is real and it shows up.

For independent artists watching from the outside, the Sombr model is worth studying. He's pairing genuine musical reverence, Buckingham as a mentor and influence rather than a stunt, with sharp live programming and a touring schedule built for scale. The guest moments feel earned because he's been vocal about his influences, so when Buckingham walks out, it reads as authentic rather than manufactured.

If you're an LA-based creator tracking what a breakout moment looks like in 2026, this is a clean example. The show, the guests, the routing, and the cultural visibility all point in the same direction.
